Sunday September 11th brought beautiful weather for a great gathering and breakfast potluck of chavurim at the Rosenkotz home. This photo was taken before the second wave of people arrived where we added another row of benches.

The topic was the Jewish value of learning and how JLC is Shir Hayam’s all-ages avenue to do this. Anyone interested in knowing more can get in touch with RebeccaRockefeller@gmail.com.

TIKKUN OLAM

It’s not too late – YOU can support the SHIR HAYAM CROP HUNGER WALK TEAM on the Web – every dollar helps. Click here to donate to the team or if you want to walk with us please just show up at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church at 1:30 pm on Sunday October 2.

25% of the CROP Hunger Walk goes to the local food banks so I am putting in a little bit about the HELPLINE Food Bank – they need food all year and the need is increasing.

Hunger on Bainbridge Island – You’re kidding, right?

  • The food bank is intended for Bainbridge Island residents and serves over 350 households (40% with children) each week.
  • While the majority of food bank users are employed, they have a hard time making ends meet on their income.
  • Close to 1,000 people on Bainbridge Island are below poverty level. Of the cities in Kitsap County, Bainbridge represents 8.3% of the County’s poor. After paying rent and utilities, there is little left for food.
  • The community-supported milk fund distributes over 800 cartons of milk on a monthly basis.

Food Donations can be dropped off at 282 Knechtel Way NE Bainbridge Island (206) 842-7621
