SING-A-LONG
For EVERYONE who loves to sing (or even just likes to sing), Linda Golden will be hosting a Sing-a-Long at her house on Tuesday, January 24th. Please come—6:30 nosh and schmooze, 7:15 to sing. Feel free to bring music to share or your Rise Up Singing songbook, if you have one. It is always so great to sing together and it’s good for you! Please call Linda for more information 842-7250.

Seattle’s world-renown Pat Wright & Total Experience Gospel Choir join us to create the Bainbridge Is. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Choir at SING OUT!, Sat., Jan. 28, 2012, in the Bainbridge High School Commons. This is a benefit for Bainbridge Schools Foundation
It’s the grandest and most joyous day of singing with a chance for neighbors and friends to sing with the best, to share a soulful soul food dinner or an inspiring evening concert.
1:00 – 5:00pm – choir workshop creates “2012 MLK Jr. Memorial Choir” under Wright’s direction singing music that inspired Dr. King;
5:00 – 6:30pm – soul food dinner; and
7:00 – 9:00pm – grand, uplifting Concert!
Wright invites you to join the choir, share musical history and sing! No experience necessary: no sheet music to read. Ages 10 and older. Scholarships available.

IFC Temporary Representative Needed
On the first Thursday of every month, the IFC (Interfaith Council) meets at the “homes” of different faiths. For the months of February and March, I cannot attend the meetings and wondered if anyone from the Chavurah would like to go in my place for one or both of these sessions. They will be on Thursdays February 2 and March 1 at 6:30 p.m. The meetings always begin with small group discussion of a particular issue that faith groups may view from very different perspectives, and then the general meeting begins at 7 p.m. The meetings never go beyond 9 p.m. and are usually interesting and thought-provoking. Iris is an award-winning author of several best-selling books, including her newest, “The Secret Lives of Wives.” The book is included on O Magazine’s “10 Titles to Pick Up Now.” Her books have been the choice of hundreds of book clubs across the country. Her first book, I Am My Mother’s Daughter…Making Peace with Mom Before It’s Too Late brought national recognition as she shared insights into mother-daughter relationships.
She is sure to share some of the wisdom she has learned from interviewing hundreds of women, and how that wisdom affects our Jewish community.

Summer Camp 2012 Scholarships Available
The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle’s Camp Scholarship Application is now available for the summer of 2012. The Camp Scholarship Program is designed to help families in Washington State with the cost of camp tuition. We believe that the Jewish overnight camp experience is an integral component in building a child’s Jewish identity.
